Congratulations to everyone who passed their dan in Southampton! For those wishing to grade later in the year, dates will be out shortly.

BTC Instructor Course Update

At relatively short notice, 4 Chungdokwan verifiers trained and re-trained over 70 instructors in November and December. Instructors should expect to receive their CRB disclosures followed by their BTC Instructor Cards within the next few months. Please remember that the Instructor Course is required before any Instructor should be teaching and that additional Instructor Indemnity Insurance is required. Scottish All Grades Seminar, Grading and Instructor Course, 20th & 21st June

Phew! The weekend of 20th and 21st June was extremely busy with a trip to Scotland to see the Scottish Instructors and their students, an all day, all grades seminar covering poomse and kyorgi, and instructors course and then a grading!

It was a great trip and thanks certainly go to Master Andrew Campbell for all the hard work and organising on his part. Thanks too go to Master Andy Brown who has a large group with some top instructors. Master Brown has long supported the association with some excellent fighters and martial artists having trained under him. The trip was also a great opportunity to meet Master Scott McArthur and the students of Pisung Ecosse who arerelatively new to Chungdokwan.

Both the seminar and the grading were well attended and enjoyable, stamina-testing days. Well done to the students and their watching parents who turned out in support!

Wednesday 1st & Thursday 2nd April

Grand Master Park Hae Man Vice President of Chungdokwan Worldwide and Special Advisor to the Kukkiwon, visited Chungdokwan GB and conducted two seminars for the benefit of Chungdokwan GB students. Both seminars were well attended from the association's clubs, especially given both were mid-week sessions and many of us already have club and work commitments.

Grand Master Park is an inspiration to all of us demonstrating crisp, accurate and uptodate poomse techniques.

Chungdokwan Scotland Players Join Scotland National Team Squad Training
Sunday 29th March

Sunday 29th March saw the inclusion of Chungdokwan Scotland players participating at the national team training. The event was organised by the BTCB National Squad Coaches John Cullen and Mark Russell and the event was attended also by Master Bill Darlington Head of BTCB Scotland. Chungdokwan Instructor Andrew Campbell was invited to be part of the coaching team, putting players through their paces with the session lasting over 5 hours!

A special thanks was made at the start of the coaching session by all players to Master Andy Brown Chief Instructor of the Scottish Taekwondo Union, former national team coach. All players paid their respect to Master Brown and acknowledged his major influence in sparring, having trained all the national team coaches. The squad training event was attended by over 60 students who all worked really hard. All coaches involved were happy to see fighters from various clubs and organisations coming together for the benefit of sport Taekwondo in Scotland.

This will be a monthly event and all Chungdokwan players will be able attend. Happy days are here again!

If you are interested in squad training, why not contact Andrew Campbell for more information?

Corner Judging Course:
Saturday 17th January

TCGB invited the BTCB Chairman of the Referees department to hold a corner judging course available to all its members. We had a good turnout, especially as most people had only been back training for a week. For experienced instructors, students wishing to progress in competition sparring and people interested in corner judging and refereeing, it was a very worthwhile experience. The course was held by Chris Codling, BTCB Refereeing Director, an International Referee with many years of experience.

TCGB would like to thank Chris Codling for holding the corning judging course which was well presented and gave attendees more insight into the importance of corner judging.

The Association will look to hold another of these events later in the year, so please watch this space. We are also looking for people to attend the 2 day Referees course (2nd class) which will be in Manchester on 25th and 26th April. If you are interested please get in touch.
